State of the Nation: “APC govt. has committed social, moral crimes against Nigerians” – Labour Party V-P candidate, Sen. Baba-Ahmed

By Aminu Imam

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, has urged Nigerians to put aside sentiments and vote for candidates with the capacity to efficiently manage the country’s resources.

He made the remark while featuring as a guest on LibertyTV programme: “Democracy in Practice”, yesterday.

Baba-Ahmed condemned President Buhari’s poor handling of the nation’s economy and security, describing him as a bad leader.

He cited as an example the Abuja-Kaduna-bound passenger train, which he said though it was not done by the present administration, has been blown up, adding that despite all its promises, the government was yet to release those kidnapped by the terrorists and have not repaired the train.

The vice-presidential candidate said these ugly events had been compounded by the attack on Kuje Correctional facility, stating that what the nation honestly needed now was a credible leader. He vowed to deal with those who brought insecurity to Nigeria if the Labour Party wins the 2023 presidential election.

He said his joining the Labour Party signalled the party’s and his resolve in the journey to “take back Nigeria”. The senator decried the prolonged strike action by the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), and blamed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for committing social and moral crimes against the Nigerian people.

Recall that on Friday, Baba-Ahmed was picked as running mate to the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The 46-yr-old economist-cum-politician served as Senator for Kaduna-North from 2011 to 2012, and also as a member of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007. His supporters have praised Peter Obi for picking a vice-presidential candidate who has no unresolved corruption allegations and a nationalist of unquestionable character.
